What Makes ECHO Unique?

Criteria

All entries are strictly evaluated on three equally important criteria: strategy, creative and results

Outstanding creative is necessary to win a coveted ECHO and is one of three required qualities. But it's just one requirement. Award recipients must also have superb marketing strategy and excellent results. ECHO is unique among international competitions because no other awards competition looks at the response marketing discipline in such totality.

Categories

ECHO entries are judged by business category. There are fifteen separate categories representing business segments. Categorizing entries by business segment enables entries to be evaluated by judging panels who are experts and leaders in their peer groups in the relevant business category. This leads to a more intelligent and insightful evaluation of entries.

Judging

ECHOs are judged by client-side marketers, agency account directors, and senior creative. ECHO judges select the biggest and best ideas, the most creative use of response based DM strategies, and the finest executions—in short, the very best work of the world's very best response marketing professionals.

ECHO HISTORY AND HERITAGE

The DMA International ECHO Awards honor excellence in creativity, marketing strategy and response results in data-driven marketing campaigns. With more than 1,000 entries submitted by agencies and advertisers worldwide, DMA’s ECHO Awards recognize every type of media used in direct and interactive marketing campaigns. The ECHOs – the world’s top advertising and marketing competition solely dedicated to data-driven marketing – were first established in 1929, originally focused on direct mail.

ECHO continuously evolves and has developed and launched the following initiatives:

  • Expanded and revised the ECHO Alliance Partnership Program.
  • ECHO entry form has been re-designed, therefore making the entry process faster and easier.
  • The DMA International ECHO Awards competition will offer a FREE webinar for all interested in learning what it takes to ENTER and WIN an ECHO.

GLOBAL REACH

Every year, over 1,000 entries are submitted for the International ECHO Awards from all over the world. For the 2014 DMA International ECHO Awards, Round 1 will take place in each of the three countries of entry: New York, Denmark and Australia. Rounds 2, and 3 judging will take place in New York City. Overall, participating judges come from cities across the United States, the UK, Sweden, Spain, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, France, Brazil, South Africa, Slovenia, India, Ireland, Malaysia and Japan.
